We are proud of our sixty plus years of service to the
Orcas Island Community! Orcas Fire is a tax and
donation supported emergency service agency created in
1948 as San Juan County Fire Protection District #2.
Originally a fire district created as defined in Title 52
of the Revised Code of Washington (RCW) we have
evolved into an "All Hazard" emergency response
organization.
With the San Juan County Sheriff's Department, we will
respond to ANY emergency situation on Orcas Island and the
nearby islands and waterways. This includes structure and
wild land fires, emergency medical calls, car &
aircraft accidents, hazardous material incidents, rope
rescue calls, search and rescue needs and all other
emergency needs.
While the emergency phone number is still 911 from landline
phones,
it is necessary to use the number 378-4141 from cell
phones due
to the proximity of Canadian phone services.
